About Us
A bit of history...
  • Southside Community Care Inc. was established in 1979 by a number of local churches helping disadvantaged people on the Southside.
  • In 1981 it was decided to focus on providing shelter for families.
  • Incorporated 1983
  • Funded by the Deptartment of Communities (was Dept of  Families) as a SAAP service in 1987.

  • Provides Crisis Accommodation and Support for families for 3-6 months
  • We aim to improve the quality of life for these families and assist in their return to independent living.
  • The Dept of Housing and Public Works funds this organisation for two workers 16 properties for us to manage.
  • Southside Community Care Inc is NOT JUST ACCOMMODATION. We are funded as a Supported Accommodation Assistance Program by the Dept of Housing and Public Works.
Di is the Executive Officer
Deb is the Service Manager who looks after the day to day running of the service and deals with tenancy matters.
Natasa and Sarah - are the Family Support Workers who supports the tenants.
Mary - Our office admin is the person who is most likely to answer the phone when you ring the office, to take messages or referrals.
Volunteers also work in the office and may answer the phone and take messages or referrals.
There is also a Management Committee which is made up of volunteers who meet monthly to discuss general issues in regard to the organisation.
